WHERE THIS CAME FROM

Torize did not start as Torize. It started as a company inside a mining faction, and it owes that faction most of what it knows.

UNDER NAE

The company was founded under Nakesh Alliance Extractions and ran under that flag for the better part of a decade. NAE supplied minerals at a discount and gave a young company room to learn the trade properly. The first shipyards and the first cities were paid for out of that arrangement, and everything Torize owns today traces back to it.

When NAE changed hands, Torize took a buyout and set out on its own. Both sides moved on. The company keeps the NAE seal in its archive out of respect for where it came from, not as a claim on anything.

ASTAROTH

The mining and prospecting work ran under the Astaroth name through the Krath Dynasty years — a full operation with its own yards, its own recruitment, and a newsletter that ran for three years and three hundred and forty-three surviving editions. Astaroth remains the Dynasty's name and Torize makes no claim to it. What Torize carried forward is the method: the survey discipline the asteroid programme runs on today was written in that period, and it still works.

UNDER CZERKA

Torize operates as a division of the Czerka Corporation and intends to stay there. Czerka provides datacards, minerals and support, and Torize has built on Czerka ground under contract for years. Czerka's own charter says it makes resources and infrastructure available to agents with the vision to use them — Torize is what that sentence looks like when somebody takes it seriously. It is a good arrangement and a well-run government, and the company says so plainly because it is true.

THE ASTEROIDS

The asteroid programme is the company's own venture. Any operation that depends on someone else's supply is only as steady as that supply, and the sensible answer is to hold ground of your own rather than ask more of a partner. So Torize went looking for asteroid fields, took the deposits in them, and started building from material it owns outright.

Thirteen rocks in, that is where the work sits.

WHERE IT STANDS NOW

Torize runs today as a division of the Czerka Corporation, building on its own asteroid ground and on Czerka worlds under contract. Two lines of work, one of them owned outright and one of them paid for by a government that has backed this company for years. After the last decade, that is a comfortable place to be standing.
